VIEWING POINTS & WALKS

The Pairc Trust have two main walks at Cromore and Orinsay. In 2017 we received funding to improve the walks and position an information board at each village. Details of the route and what can be seen in the area are included on the boards and copies of the routes are available for download below.

We also received funding from Tesco Bags of Help and the Scottish Landfill Fund to make repairs and improvements to the Orinsay walkway. A beautiful picnic table has been made by staff at the Stonoway Trust sawmill and local designer Richard Chyzy of Blackhouse Creative designed an information board which has been mounted on a drystone cairn.

CROMORE WALKING ROUTE

One of the farthest villages in Pairc, the Cromore walk takes you back in time on a walk behind the village. You will see old lazy beds marking signs of past cultivation and take in far ranging views, back across the island to Achmore and Leurbost and out to sea. Download a copy of the route.

StiomrAbhaIghWALKING ROUTE

The Historic Walk out to the deserted village of Steimreway begins in Orinsay. A picnic area marks the start of the walk, and a steep climb allows for some brief bench rest to look back on the village. Please ensure you have suitable footwear and clothing for this walk across boggy and hilly terrain. Download a copy of the route.

CROMORE & CALBOST CYCLE TRAIL

Visit Outer Hebrides features a cycle trail through some of the Pairc's most scenic areas. See the route and additional resources here.

Enjoy a stop over at a tidal inlet of Loch Eireasort overlooking common grazing land, freshwater streams, and, of course, the loch itself. Keep an eye out for the resident grey heron at low tide!

Take in the sights looking over the waters of Loch Cromore, including the remains of Dun Cromore - an Iron Age dry stone roundhouse.

Take a break and relax on the outskirts of Marvig overlooking the calm waters of Loch Caitiosbhal.

Stop in Orinsay and enjoy views straight out into the Minch past Eilean Liubhaird. If visibility is good you might even catch a glimpse of the Shiant Isles.
